The music of New York bassist Dan Montgomery ranges widely in style and character but shares a desire for emotional directness and fierce intensity. His music tells a distinct story while allowing for the individual voices of saxophonist (and San Francisco native) Sam Priven and drummer Matthew Buckner to shine through. Montgomery’s open and inviting personality are ever-present in his music. Featuring Dan Montgomery on bass, Sam Priven on saxophone, Matt Buckner on drums.
Sam, Dan and Matt have been playing music together for nearly three years at the University of Miami Frost School of Music. While they hail from California, New York and Minnesota respectively, their musical kinship transcends their cultural differences. They have collectively played in nearly 10 countries and with countless music legends such as Chris Potter, Robin Eubanks, Jaleel Shaw, Wycliffe Gordon, Danilo Perez, Bruce Hornsby, Brian Lynch, Martin Bejerano, Kate Reid and the New York Voices, to name a few. sampriven.com
