Roberta Piket

Roberta PiketFRIDAY, OCTOBER 4, 8 PM

About Roberta
“I get restless easily and I’m always looking for new challenges,” pianist Roberta Piket reflects about her decision to record, at this point in her career, a full-length solo album. This is the first time I’ve done a recording of almost all standards,” she continues. “I felt that for my first solo recording I wanted to start with material as fundamental and malleable as the standard repertoire, a common reference point that I am very comfortable with.” Roberta Piket has played professionally as a sidewoman with David Liebman, Rufus Reid, Michael Formanek, Lionel Hampton, Mickey Roker and Benny Golson and has thrice been a featured guest on Marian McPartland’s Piano Jazz on National Public Radio. She was an associate artist at the ACA with saxophonist/composer Sam Rivers in fall of 2006. Roberta regularly appears in New York and tours the West coast, and recently has been performing in Europe as well. Roberta has nine CDs released as a leader on various independent labels. The latest is Solo, on her own Thirteenth Note Records. The NYC Jazz Record said, “[Solo] displays a mastery that is frequently striking and always engaging.” robertajazz.com
