This ancient yet modern music combines traditional melodies and rhythms with dynamic improvisation and interaction between musicians, covering the musical spectrum from deeply contemplative to exhilarating. Arjun and Jim are on the faculty of the Ali Akbar College of Music and are also instructors at the Jazzschool Institute.
Arjun Verma is a sitarist trained by Ali Akbar Khan. Arjun has performed in the U.S., Europe, and India, including performances at the United Nations in Geneva and Prague Castle in the Czech Republic.
Jim Santi Owen is an American percussionist, teacher, and performer. Drumming since the age of eight, he has been studying tabla since 1991 from Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri, and learning South Indian percussion instruments since 1995 from T.H. Subash Chandran and K. Sekar.
