Vocalist Amy London presents a program of songs in celebration of women in jazz. Alongside London’s originals and songs by contemporary artists such as Holli Ross, Jeanne O’Connor and Regina Wernick, London will spotlight the music of such legends such as Annie Ross, Ella Fitzgerald, and Mary Lou Williams. London’s band is a trio of musicians who have accompanied and recorded with some of the most beloved singers in jazz: pianist James Weidman played with Abbey Lincoln for years, bassist Harvie S. originated the voice and bass duo with Sheila Jordan, and drummer Steve Williams was Shirley Horn’s percussionist for more than 25 years.
London has received wide recognition and critical acclaim for her two Motema Music CDs, When I Look In Your Eyes and Let’s Fly, which has led to her performing in Russia, Turkey, France, Italy, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, and across the US, as well as on the major NYC jazz stages.
