Sing the timeless music of the Beatles in 3- and 4-part harmony and enjoy their songs in a whole new way. Work from written choral arrangements and learn harmony parts to different Beatles tunes each week. There will be an opportunity to create your own harmonies and also to perform in the Jazzschool Student Performance Series. If you sang in the Beatles Choir last summer, you can do it again — this will be a whole new set of songs. Let’s have fun!
Singer, composer and arranger Ellen Robinson has been prominent on the Bay Area jazz vocal scene for over three decades. She has worked with artists including Bud Spangler, Harvey Wainapel, Paul Nagel and many others. As a leader, Ellen has released three acclaimed albums and she teaches at both the Jazzschool and the Community Music Center in San Francisco.
For anyone looking for an edge, this workshop is designed to equip musicians with the mental skills necessary for becoming consistent, robust performers — so they can play at their very best under pressure. In music, mental training and toughness are just as important as talent! Discover practical techniques and strategies to remove the mental roadblocks that have kept you from playing and performing the way you want. You’ve trained on your instrument — now harness the power of your mind (thoughts, actions, beliefs, confidence and motivation). All musicians, singers and songwriters are welcome, regardless of your preferred style of music.
Les Wise is a renowned guitarist with over 30 years of experience touring and recording. He also is a world-class music educator and author. Les was one of the first guitar instructors at the prestigious Musicians Institute in Hollywood, where he has taught thousands of students the art and science of becoming better musicians.
This workshop covers boogie woogie basics for the left hand, the intricacies of adding right hand improvisations, and how to build your vocabulary. Beginners will leave with plenty of resources for further inspiration and study, and more advanced players will be provided with tips on how to transcribe from your favorite recordings and how to approach challenging hand coordination. This fun and lively participatory class will also delve into history, stories, and must-have recordings. New materials and resources.
Wendy DeWitt has been playing boogie woogie and blues piano since her childhood in Sonoma County and has played with Hank Ballard, Otis Rush, and at festivals throughout the U.S. and Europe.
Ann Brewer performs an eclectic mix of songs including bluesy jazz standards, pop and original tunes. Featuring Ross Gualco on piano, Ray Clement on saxophone, John Hoy on bass and David Rokeach on drums.
Ann Brewer is a Bay Area jazz vocalist with a bluesy, rock edge. Ann’s warm, engaging personality is unique and down to earth. She is not a diva, but part of the band in creating an awesome collaborative experience. She performed in San Francisco, the East Bay and regularly in Marin.

The Jazzschool Community Music School Vocal Department presents a monthly jazz vocal jam session, hosted by Angharad Jones. All are welcome! Singers should bring three copies of their song for the band. Please arrive by 6:30 pm to sign up.
