Dear Friends of the CJC,
April is Jazz Appreciation Month (JAM)! Designated by the Smithsonian National Museum of American History, April was chosen for JAM partly in recognition of the birthdays of jazz greats – including Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Charles Mingus, Gerry Mulligan, Herbie Hancock and Tito Puente – but its main purpose is to highlight our treasured American art form, jazz.
Of course, we here at the CJC appreciate jazz every single day of the year, but we’re glad that there’s a focused and concerted effort nationwide to bring more awareness to this singular music. In support of our mission to further jazz education and performance, we encourage you – as a vital part of our jazz community – to join us in making a special effort to appreciate jazz this month.
Jazz sustains us all. Please help us maintain a strong jazz community by making a tax-deductible gift to the CJC in celebration of JAM this April.

Yours in jazz,
