Jazz Bass

Overview

Learn a variety of essential techniques for constructing strong jazz bass lines on blues, jazz standards in 4/4 and 3/4, modal tunes, rhythm changes, and ballads. Techniques for soloing are also covered. Perform bass lines in class each week with piano accompaniment provided by the instructor. Recommended for upright and electric bassists interested in participating in the Jazzschool’s ensemble program. Prerequisites: intermediate technical facility and some ability to read music.
