Removing the Oddness From Odd Times

This course is designed for the intermediate level drummer looking to explore and gain a hands on grasp of odd times: 3/4, 5/4, 7/4, etc. Though odd meters have been an ingredient in pop, Latin, rock and jazz music for some time, their use is increasing. Many drummers will be asked to play some form of odd time groove at some point. Here’s a chance to start your journey towards comfortably handling this challenging and interesting trend. We will focus on basic approaches to grooves, variations, fills and solos. Topics discussed include the pendulum effect, the clave approach, the building block approach and strategies for applying sticking patterns.
