This Summer, we are pleased to offer numerous high school and middle school jazz ensembles. These groups will each meet twice a week, for 3 weeks. To allow for flexible summer scheduling, we’re offering sessions that run for 3 weeks in July and 3 weeks in August. It is possible to sign up for either July (Session I) or August (Session II), or for both sessions, back to back. Each 3-week session will conclude with a student performance in Hardymon Hall at the California Jazz Conservatory.
Summer Quarter Term Dates
Part 1: July 8-26, 2019
Part 2: July 29-August 16, 2019

HIGH SCHOOL JAZZ ENSEMBLE
Gain a greater understanding of jazz theory and develop improvisation skills through the study and performance of challenging jazz repertoire.
MIDDLE SCHOOL JAZZ ENSEMBLE
Small groups designed for middle school musicians interested in learning how to play jazz and improvise. These ensembles cover a wide repertoire, from John Coltrane and Sonny Rollins to Eddie Harris and James Brown! Students play new arrangements, focused on stylistic accuracy and developing coherent solos in a friendly, non-competitive environment.
