CJC Degree Programs
The Jazzschool at CJC is the California Jazz Conservatory’s non degree-granting community music school, providing music education and performance opportunities for over 20 years to instrumentalists and vocalists of all ages and at all levels of ability.
The Jazzschool offers:
Jazzschool Classes are offered every quarter for beginning, intermediate and advanced instrumentalists and vocalists. Levels range from covering basic technique and instrumental skills to focusing on more advanced topics, including jazz style, harmony, improvisation and more. (no audition required; some classes require faculty approval)
Workshops (no audition required)
The Jazzschool offers a variety of Weekend Workshops throughout the year, available in single sessions or as a series. Workshops are taught by professional artists/educators and focus on specific approaches to technical ability, theoretical concepts, improvisation, and enhancing live performance skills.
Performance Ensembles (audition required)
The Jazzschool offers a wide range
of Performance Ensembles for beginning, intermediate and advanced instrumentalists and vocalists. Ensembles focus on a wide range of styles including, but not limited to, jazz, blues, funk, Afro- Caribbean and South American music.
Young Musicians Program (placement audition required)
The Jazzschool Young Musicians Program offers classes for beginning, intermediate and advanced middle and high school instrumentalists and vocalists. Small groups focus on improvisation, while big bands delve into style and repertoire.
Camps and Intensives
Jazzschool Camps and Intensives are offered in the Spring and Summer in one and two week sessions for adult and youth instrumentalists and vocalists of all levels of ability.

You may also download and print a paper application and mail it to the Jazzschool with payment enclosed.
Enrollment is on a first-come, first-served basis and cannot be guaranteed without full payment. Students applying for courses that are full may be placed on a waiting list. The Jazzschool accepts checks (made payable to The Jazzschool), cash, VISA or MASTERCARD, American Express and Discover. Payment plans are available.
