As genre definitions continue to blur and expand, musicians have more choices for material than ever before. While the Great American Songbook is a perennial source for vocal repertoire, why not open up your imagination and try out other ideas? Contemporary vocalists are exploring fresh arrangements of standards and pop or R&B tunes, music from other cultures, instrumental tunes, original songs, open improvisations on thematic text, combining musical elements with spoken word, and more! Singers are invited to bring in ideas to develop and will be given tools to create their own arrangements. Full professional trio provided for second half of course.
