A fascinating course exploring the roots of Brazilian bossa nova and samba. Instructor Sandy Cressman teaches singers the signature rhythmic grooves of Brazilian music as a foundation for the interpretation of standard and not-so-standard bossa novas. Vocal phrasing and Portuguese pronunciation are covered (in addition to a few carefully chosen English translations). Live piano or guitar accompaniment is provided each week and the course concludes with a performance.
