Why does one singer captivate, while others leave you flat? What do some singers do to engage the audience? How can we make our music a reflection of our unique experiences — and express our feelings in a musical context? This course develops our songs and our selves for a powerful, confident performance! Topics include choosing the right song; using various grooves, tempos and arrangements; learning and memorizing the melody and lyrics; phrasing; communicating with an accompanist; and stage presence. Weeks 2 through 3 include a professional accompanist, while the last two classes and performance include a full trio. For intermediate to advanced singers. Prerequisite: consultation with instructor, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 510.845.5373 to inquire about this class.
